Summer food packaging - What's hot in 2019

With temperatures soaring above 35 degrees in the UK this month, we're all looking for the next thirst quenching summer cooler or sizzling farm reared hot dogs fresh from the BBQ. We thought we would get your tastebuds tingling by showcasing a handful of mouthwateringly delicious culinary creations for summer 2019.

#1 Nonna Gelato

http://nonnasgelato.com

"The Best Ice Cream In London" TIME OUT

It all started 85 years ago with one wonderful, little Italian woman, Nonna! A family run business using only local seasonal produce with great quality ingredients. Their Italian / British flavour fusions bring together some exciting gelato combinations such as the refreshingly delicious chocolate & Sicilian blood orange marmalade sorbet or salted toffee apple! Mmmm!

Packaging:

Nonna's are using clean white ice cream tubs. This really focuses on the striking colour combinations of the ice cream and the strong simple branding on the tub. They have also been playful with multiple designs on their tubs to keep things fresh and evolving. They have achieved this with custom printed round stickers (that are about 36mm plus) to give a nice clear brand visual against the simple white background. By having these multiple sticker designs, it allows them to chop and change as much as they like. This works particularly with different flavour combos or promotions. Custom printed round stickers / labels can be found HERE available in different sizes and finishes to suit. This is a quick and cost effective way of branding our your ice cream tubs. An alternative option would be to screen print a single colour directly onto the tubs. This also gives an authentic print finish but with slightly less detail. The beauty of this is less time sticking! Custom printed ice cream tubs can be found HEREThey are available in sizes: 4oz / 6oz / 8oz / 12oz / 16oz and start at print runs as low as 500 printed cups.

Where to find Nonna's:

Every Saturday at BROADWAY MARKET, Hackney.

Every Sunday (From May 6th) at CHURCH STREET MARKET, Stoke Newington.

Nonna's are also part of KERB serving all over London.

#2 Only Jerkin

www.onlyjerkin.com

Only Jerkin celebrates the spirit of the Caribbean through jaw dropping, lip smacking, damn tasty street food! It all began in the family kitchen as kids, cooking traditional family recipes. All their chicken is marinated for 48 hours and triple dipped in their home made signature batters . This gives that extra depth of flavour and super tender chicken with a crunch! Not forgetting their mouth watering home made gravy and creamy slaws to dip your skin on fries in! Take me there now!

Packaging:

A masterclass in presenting street food to the max! They use a rustic authentic kraft nested tray as a base, this oozes quality and is 100% biodegradable as it doesn't have a plastic lining. Then to finish; line with biodegradable custom printed greaseproof paper with their logo on. An alternative would be to use plain greaseproof sheets as a tray liner. We love the way the slaw is simply heaped on top of the fries - so tasty! Paper sauce pots (or paper soufflé dipping pots as they are sometimes called) are perfect for homemade creamy dipping sauces and ketchups, plus they are eco-friendly. They come in 1oz / 2oz / 4oz sizes - perfect if you're serving thicker slaws and sauces.

#5 The Athenian

https://www.theathenian.co.uk/

The Athenian is reshaping the image of Greek cuisine. Set up by two Londoners born and raised in Athens and Cyprus. Efthymios and Neofytos set up a small street food venture in 2014 which now has more than six sites, aiming to make souvlaki part of an every day diet. These food bros make souvlaki the way it is meant to be made: simple, fresh and authentically Greek!

Packaging:

Beautifully presented food harmonises with organic bagasse trays covered with a small custom printed grease proof sheet to present food on. For takeaway or deliveroo packaging options, they are using leakproof biodegradable kraft food boxes for safe and easy transport, keeping food hotter and fresher for longer. Sauce dipping pots with lids are also a benefit when transporting food through a delivery service to limit spillage.
