2021’s hottest food trends

Foodies are a fickle lot who are always seeking something new to tempt their tastebuds.

Year after year we see food trends coming and going, but what makes these changes so important to restaurants, bars and takeaways right now is having the information to hand so that they are in a good position to tap into them and grab a slice of the action during these trying times.

Delivery is king

One of the biggest trends of the last 12 months that is still having an impact on restaurants and takeaways today is the growth in demand for delivery.

With social distancing measures and the closure of most eateries meaning that traditional dining has become all but impossible, many venues have moved entirely to collect and delivery in order to stay afloat.

To keep food in perfect condition and ready to eat, our Pack Genie takeaway packaging products have been incredibly popular. While some venues will be well used to offering take away and delivery, it will be new to many. Alongside keeping food fresh and hot or cold as needed, we also expect to see demand for eco-friendly packaging remain high this year as diners consider the impact of their delivery food choices on the environment.

Special occasion dining

As birthdays and special events have changed beyond all recognition, many people are seeking out fine dining options and at-home restaurant experiences that can be delivered to their door.

If you’ve gone to the effort of creating a five-star dish that’s sure to impress your customer, don’t let the packaging let your culinary skills down. Pack Genie packaging comes complete with a free design service to add real value to your business and foodie delights, so why not talk to the team today and present your dishes in style with one of our branded paper bags?

Celebrity chefs like Rick Stein and Jamie Oliver have embraced this trend too so we expect it to continue apace in 2021. With that said, there could well be an even bigger choice of specialist menus to choose from, with gourmet global flavours and decadent home grown ingredients alike forever changing dinner at home.

New healthy alternatives

As many people have been putting on a few extra pounds during lockdown, it’s no surprise that healthy takeout alternatives are starting to gain in popularity and seem to be firmly here to stay.

Fermented dishes such as kimchi are proving to be a good choice for those looking to improve their health and wellbeing, but before you start offering some of these new dishes, be sure that your current product packaging is up to the task.

The last thing you want is for your dishes to arrive at your customer’s home soggy and soaked in brine or liquid. Take a look at our branded greaseproof paper to help retain any liquids while in transit.
